We had talked about it too much before it held. There are many attitudes about it surround me. They are resistance, indifference and ecstatic. I’m not sure whether the people in other cities or provinces have different opinions from Shanghai or not.
Rain told me that the people in Hong Kong thought that Beijing’s Olympics was a laughingstock. Our facilities for normal people are poor. And China always put everything along with politics. We spent too much money for it but I doubt that we will have profits in the future or even have them back. Rain is Cantonese. And I know that they do think like that. I agree some of the opinion and still feel proud of the fact that we finally held the Olympics.
I watched the ceremonies at home with Mom and Dad. I have to say that I like some parts of the performance, but wonder how it related to the sports. We always show off that we have a far long history. Many creations were showed in the first part. I’d like to see them but still feel that it was a bit overcorrect. And that caused the second part which was suppose to introduce the modern China had nothing to say. After I turned down the TV, I was worried about the air pollution after so many fireworks that night in Beijing.
The most important part in Olympics is not the ceremonies but the competitions. We have more stars this time. Now, everyone Chinese are worried about Liu Xiang. We’re worried and make him overstressed. Why everyone think a lot of gold medal? We completely violate the spirit of Olympics. I like the basketball competition between China and States last night. Yes, we have Yao Ming, but we need every one's power as well. We lost, but we tried our best! That is why we need sport.
It is the cleanest the air has been in Beijing in a decade. That is because the government closed many factories near Beijing temporarily. Everything is the best now: the traffic (the citizen in Beijing have to drive every two day), the air pollution, the secure living (even in Shanghai’s subway, there were police officers forcing everyone with a bag larger than a small purse to pass it through an X-ray machine) and free online surfing. All of them may disappear some day especially the blocked website. I know that probably after one month I cannot read my English blog normally. I have to skip the GFW’s barriers and then read mine and others.
